This Just In - I Don’t Care

December 6th, 2006

Apparently there was another slow news day this week, because they dragged out the classic “UK’s spiraling debt problem” headline.

“Problem” that’s the word they use. They then go on about how all these poor people are forced into debt by evil credit card companies who give them no choice but to spend a load of money in JJB Sports and H Samuel, only to then have the audacity to expect these people to pay the money back.

I mean it’s ridiculous isn’t it. It’s not like these people had a choice, they didn’t fill in an application form, they didn’t sign any documents, they didn’t go into the shops themselves and spend the money on products they wanted. They didn’t do these things, so why should they pay it back, the bank decided to buy the gold clown chain, not them, it’s completely unfair.

Oh wait, that’s wrong isn’t it. Now I think of it these people did go and spend the money themselves, and they did apply for the card themselves, and they did get all the fucking stuff that they bought themselves. If they get themselves into debt, it’s only fair they pay it back.

It’s ridiculous to blame a credit card company because some people are too stupid to be trusted not to spend money they don’t have. When these complaints happen, nobody even suggests anything that might be a solution; it’s just a moan for the sake of a moan. What would the solutions be? Should there be an IQ test to get a credit card? Well obviously I think there should, but I think there should be an IQ test for the right to stay alive, so of course I think that. The problem is that if there was an IQ test required to get a credit card, that same witless moron who moaned about his debt problems would whine like a dog in a bear trap about how his rights were being infringed. Only he wouldn’t word it like that of course. “I got me rights” would probably be more a more likely phrase.

So what else, should there just be no such thing as a credit card? Great, just because the fucking stupid people can’t show restraint the intelligent people suffer. I have 3 credit cards, and I have never paid any interest on any of them, because I use them intelligently. I can’t fly a plane, that doesn’t mean I think nobody should be allowed to.

We can’t keep letting the people who complain run the country. It happens with everything. Years ago, I remember Crash got released in the cinema (not the new one about how everyone is a racist, the one about the freaks who liked to crash their cars for sex fun). It was due to be released at my local cinema, but 6 people complained, so they decided not to show it.

Now I didn’t want to see that film, it looked shitty, but I’d wager more than 6 people did. So why is it that 6 people thinking that it shouldn’t get shown outweighs the hundreds of people who wanted to see it? It’s not even like those 6 people would be forced to watch it, they could have just not gone. It’s fucking stupid, how does nobody see that that’s wrong. The standard response to all complaints of this nature should be this…

“Fuck you madam, nobody cares what you think”…..dial tone.

And the standard response to anyone who complains about their debt problems should be this…

Are you a murderer? Take the quiz...
